Connect Google Calendar

Connecting Google Calendar shows Today's meetings on your Canto home screen, lets you start a note for any of them in one tap, and gives the notetaker bot the schedule it needs to auto-join your calls.

How do I connect it?

1. Open calendar settings — the Calendars section ("Meetings on your home screen").
2. Choose Connect Google Calendar.
3. A Google sign-in window opens. Pick the account and approve read access to your calendar. Google always shows this consent screen once per account.
4. When it finishes you're back in Canto with the account listed as Connected, and today's meetings appear on your home screen.

You can repeat this for as many Google accounts as you like — work and personal side by side. Each account lists its individual calendars with a toggle, so you can switch off ones you don't want feeding your home screen; holiday, birthday, and contacts calendars start off by default. What does Canto do with my calendar?

Canto reads event details to show today's meetings and improve notes. It never writes to your calendar.

Concretely: event titles, times, attendees, and descriptions are fetched live to render your home screen — Canto doesn't keep a synced copy of your calendar. When you start a note for a meeting (or the notetaker records it), a snapshot of that one event is attached to the recording so the title is pre-filled and the AI can use the agenda and attendee list — see How Canto links recordings to meetings. Access is read-only; Canto cannot create, edit, or delete events, and disconnecting revokes its access at Google.

Which meetings can the notetaker join?

Events whose invite carries a Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, or Zoom link — Meet links Google adds to the event and links pasted into the location or description all count. Those meetings show a bot toggle on the home screen; see Auto-join meetings from your calendar. Declined and all-day events are skipped.

Troubleshooting

The connect window closed without finishing?

If your browser blocked the popup, allow popups for Canto and try again. If Google showed an error, retry from Connect Google Calendar — a half-finished attempt leaves nothing behind.

It says my account "needs to be reconnected"?

Google occasionally invalidates access — most often after a password change or a security checkup. The account row turns amber with "needs to be reconnected"; click it and approve again. Your settings and recordings are untouched. See Calendar events aren't showing up.

Can I connect an Apple calendar?

No. Canto connects Google Calendar and Microsoft 365; there is no Apple Calendar integration.
