All integrationsMCP connector

Your meetings, inside the assistant you already use.

Canto exposes a remote MCP server. Add one URL to Claude, Claude Code or ChatGPT, sign in once, and the assistant can search across every meeting you have recorded, read the notes and transcript, tidy up tags and titles, and send the notetaker to your next call.

Server URL

https://mcp.usecanto.com/mcp

What the assistant can do

Nine tools, seven of them read-only. The assistant does its own reasoning over what it reads; Canto never runs a second model on your behalf, so there is no double billing and no summary-of-a-summary.

  • search: semantic search across everything you can see, including notes shared with you, with a link into the exact recording
  • fetch and get_transcript: one note in full, with the transcript paged so long meetings never get cut off
  • list_recordings and list_folders: what you recorded when, and the folders you belong to
  • list_meetings: the next two days of your calendar, with join links and whether the notetaker is already booked
  • send_notetaker: paste a Teams, Meet or Zoom link and the bot joins
  • update_note: change a title, add tags, or append to your notes, never the AI summary
  • get_audio_url: a one-hour link to the audio

Set up

Every client uses the same URL and the same sign-in. There are no API keys to copy; you authorise the connection in your browser with the account you already use for Canto, and you can revoke it any time from Settings, under Connections.

Claude (web and desktop)

  1. 1Open Settings, then Connectors, and choose Add custom connector.
  2. 2Paste https://mcp.usecanto.com/mcp as the URL. If Claude says it detected no sign-in, change the sign-in method to OAuth and pick Use Claude's published identity. Leave client ID and secret blank.
  3. 3Click Connect and approve the request on the Canto page that opens. On Team and Enterprise plans an Owner adds the connector from the admin settings first; members then click Connect.

Claude Code

Two commands. The second opens a browser tab to sign in; on a remote machine add --no-browser and follow the printed link.

claude mcp add --transport http canto https://mcp.usecanto.com/mcp
claude mcp login canto

Then /mcp inside a session shows canto as connected. Ask it to search your notes, or to send the notetaker to a link.

ChatGPT

  1. 1Open Plugins in ChatGPT on the web, click the plus button, and choose Add custom MCP server.
  2. 2Name it Canto, enter https://mcp.usecanto.com/mcp under Connection, choose OAuth, acknowledge the warning, and click Create as a plugin.
  3. 3Click Connect and approve the request on the Canto page that opens. Then start a Work chat, type @, and pick Canto. Business workspaces: only admins and owners can create MCP plugins.

Cursor, Windsurf, Zed and other MCP clients

Any client that speaks Streamable HTTP with OAuth works. The configuration is the same URL under whatever key the client expects; this is the common JSON form.

    "canto": { "type": "http", "url": "https://mcp.usecanto.com/mcp" }

What the assistant sees

Exactly what you can see in Canto, nothing more: your own recordings and the ones shared with you through a folder or a direct share. Access is per user and checked on every call, tokens expire after an hour and are refreshed quietly, and disconnecting in Settings ends it immediately. The assistant never receives the audio file itself unless you ask for a playback link.

Questions

Questions

Do I need an API key?

No. Canto uses OAuth for the connector, the same sign-in you use for the app, and every client above supports it. There is nothing to copy and nothing to leak.

Which assistant is doing the thinking?

Yours. Canto hands the assistant search results, notes and transcript text; the assistant reads and reasons over them. Canto's own AI is not called for MCP requests, so you are not paying twice.

Can it delete or share my recordings?

No. The connector has no delete, no sharing and no folder management. Writes are limited to titles, tags, your own notes field, and sending the notetaker to a meeting.

How do I disconnect an assistant?

Settings, then Connections, then Disconnect next to the app. Its tokens stop working immediately; nothing waits for expiry.

Does it work with my team's shared folders?

Yes. Search covers everything shared with you, and you can scope a search or a listing to one folder. What you cannot see in Canto, the assistant cannot see either.
