# My calendar isn't syncing

> Why meetings stop appearing in Canto: expired connections, hidden calendars, the wrong account, and meetings without a video link.

When meetings stop appearing, the connection has usually expired and needs to be reconnected — a banner tells you when that happens. If only some meetings are missing, check which calendars are enabled and whether the event actually has a meeting link.

## Checklist

1. **Does the account need reconnecting?** When Google or Microsoft expires our access — a changed password, a revoked permission, or a workspace policy — Canto shows "needs to be reconnected" next to the account. Choose **Reconnect** and approve access again. Nothing else fixes an expired connection.
2. **Is the right calendar enabled?** Each connected account has a **Calendars** list with a toggle per calendar. A meeting that lives on a disabled calendar — a shared team calendar, a secondary work calendar — won't appear. See [Choose which calendars Canto reads](https://usecanto.com/help/calendar/manage-calendars/).
3. **Is the meeting on a different account?** You can connect several Google and Microsoft accounts. If a meeting is missing, check which account's calendar it actually lives on — invitations often land on a work address while Canto is connected to a personal one. Connect the other account too: [Connect Google Calendar](https://usecanto.com/help/calendar/connect-google-calendar/), [Connect Microsoft Calendar](https://usecanto.com/help/calendar/connect-microsoft-calendar/).
4. **Does the event have a meeting link?** Only meetings with a joinable Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, or Zoom link get a notetaker toggle. An event without one still appears under **Today's meetings**, but there's nothing for the bot to join — for those, record in person or [paste a link manually](https://usecanto.com/help/notetaker/join-by-link/) if one exists outside the calendar.

## The meeting shows but changes are slow to appear

Canto checks connected calendars periodically rather than instantly, so a meeting created or moved moments ago can take a few minutes to show up or update. If a change hasn't appeared after ten minutes or so, disconnect and reconnect the account.

## I reconnected but meetings still don't appear

1. Confirm you approved calendar access during the reconnect — declining the calendar permission completes sign-in but leaves Canto unable to read events.
2. Check the **Calendars** list again; a fresh connection only reads the calendars you've enabled.
3. Work and school accounts can be restricted by an administrator. If Google or Microsoft blocks the approval screen itself, that's a workspace policy — ask your admin, or [contact support](https://usecanto.com/help/troubleshooting/contact-support/) and we'll help you work out which side is blocking.

## Does this affect the notetaker?

Yes — the notetaker finds meetings through your calendar, so a calendar that isn't syncing means no bot toggles and no auto-joins. Once the calendar is healthy, check the notetaker side separately: [The notetaker didn't join my meeting](https://usecanto.com/help/troubleshooting/bot-didnt-join/).

## Does Canto change my calendar?

No. Canto reads event details to show today's meetings and improve notes. It never writes to your calendar.
