# Send the notetaker to a meeting by link

> Paste a Teams, Meet, or Zoom link into Canto and the notetaker bot joins right away — no calendar connection required.

You can send the Canto notetaker to any Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, or Zoom meeting by pasting its link — no calendar connection needed, and the meeting doesn't have to be on your schedule.

## How do I send the bot by link?

1. Open notetaker settings and make sure **Enable notetaker** is on.
2. Under **Send to a meeting now** — "Paste a Teams, Meet, or Zoom link and the notetaker joins right away." — paste the meeting link.
3. Send it. You'll see the confirmation: "Notetaker is on its way — admit it from the meeting lobby."

The bot heads to the meeting immediately, appears in the participant list under your **Bot name**, and waits for the organiser to let it in. Once admitted, it records until the meeting ends; the notes then land in your library like any other recording.

## Which links work?

Standard join links from the three supported platforms:

- **Microsoft Teams** — `teams.microsoft.com/…` join links, including the newer short `/meet/` links and links from Teams personal accounts.
- **Google Meet** — `meet.google.com/xxx-yyyy-zzz` codes.
- **Zoom** — `zoom.us/j/…` join links, including company vanity domains.

If you paste something else, Canto rejects it with "That doesn't look like a Teams, Meet, or Zoom meeting link". Links copied out of Outlook that go through a safelinks wrapper are unwrapped automatically — paste them as they are.

## Can I use this for a meeting that's already running?

Yes. Paste the link at any point during the call and the bot joins from that moment. It only captures what happens after it's admitted — anything said before it entered is not recorded.

## What if I paste the same link twice?

Nothing doubles up. Canto recognizes the meeting and reuses the existing bot instead of sending a second one. The same is true if the meeting is also on your connected calendar with auto-join enabled — one meeting, one bot, one recording. If a teammate's Canto bot is already in the call, you're attached to that shared bot and get your own copy of the notes — see [Why did only one notetaker bot join?](https://usecanto.com/help/notetaker/one-bot-per-meeting/)

## Consent

Recording laws vary — make sure participants are okay with the notetaker before sending it. The bot is clearly labelled and only records after the organiser lets it in. Pasting a link into someone else's meeting still shows a clearly named bot asking to enter — there is no silent mode. See [Do I need consent to record?](https://usecanto.com/help/privacy/consent-and-recording-laws/)

## Troubleshooting

### The bot never made it in?

The meeting card tracks it: **Notetaker joining…** while it waits in the lobby, **Notetaker wasn't let in** if the meeting ends without anyone admitting it, **Notetaker failed** for errors. See [The notetaker didn't join my meeting](https://usecanto.com/help/troubleshooting/bot-didnt-join/).
