# Download Canto and sign in

> Where to get Canto on iOS, Android, and the web, and which sign-in methods — Apple, Google, Microsoft, email — work on each platform.

Canto is on the App Store for iPhone, on Google Play for Android, and at usecanto.com in any modern browser. You sign in before anything else — an account is required because your recordings live in the cloud and sync across devices.

## Where do I download Canto?

- **iOS** — search for Canto on the App Store (iOS 17 or later).
- **Android** — search for Canto on Google Play.
- **Web** — no download; open usecanto.com and sign in.

The same account works everywhere. A recording made on your phone appears on the web a moment later, and the other way round.

## Which sign-in methods work on each platform?

If a method isn't available on the device in front of you, sign in on the web with the same account instead — for example, Microsoft sign-in works on Android and the web but not on iOS.

## How do I sign in for the first time?

1. Open the app or usecanto.com.
2. Choose your app language when asked — this sets the interface and AI language, not the transcription language. Transcription detects the spoken language automatically.
3. Pick a sign-in method. With **Sign in with email**, enter your address and a password and choose **Sign in** — an account is created if you don't have one.
4. Grant microphone access when prompted so you can record.

By continuing you accept the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, linked on the sign-in screen.

## Do I have to use the same method every time?

Use the same method for the same email address. Each sign-in method creates its own credential, so signing in with Google one day and email the next can hit "That email is already registered with a different sign-in method." One thing to know about **Sign in with Apple**: if you choose Hide My Email, Apple gives Canto a relay address. That relay is your account identity — signing in later with your real email creates a separate, empty account.

## Troubleshooting

### I signed in but my recordings aren't there
