# Change or cancel your subscription

> Manage Canto Pro where you bought it — App Store, Google Play, or web billing. What Renews and Ends mean, and what cancelling actually changes.

Updated: 2026-08-16 · Canonical: https://usecanto.com/help/billing/manage-or-cancel/

You manage a Canto subscription wherever you bought it: the App Store, Google Play, or web billing. Canto's settings tell you which one applies — for example "Purchased on the App Store — manage it there." Cancelling keeps Pro until the end of the period you've paid for.

## Where is my subscription managed?

Open settings → **Plan** (mobile) or **Settings** → **Plan & billing** (web). Your plan row shows either **Renews** with the next billing date, or **Ends** with the date Pro runs out if you've already cancelled.

- **Bought on iOS** — managed through Apple. Canto shows "Purchased on the App Store — manage it there."
- **Bought on Android** — managed through Google. Canto shows "Purchased on Google Play — manage it there."
- **Bought on the web** — managed in Canto's web billing.
- **Team plan seat** — there's nothing for you to manage; the organisation owner handles it, and mobile shows "Managed on the web".

The **Manage subscription** action takes you to the right place.

## How do I change or cancel?

### Bought on the App Store

1. On your iPhone, open **Settings** → your name → **Subscriptions** (or use **Manage subscription** in Canto).
2. Select Canto.
3. Switch between monthly and annual, or choose **Cancel Subscription**.

### Bought on Google Play

1. Open the **Play Store** app → profile icon → **Payments & subscriptions** → **Subscriptions** (or use **Manage subscription** in Canto).
2. Select Canto.
3. Change the plan or choose **Cancel subscription**.

### Bought on the web

1. Open **Settings** → **Plan & billing** in the Canto web app.
2. Choose **Manage subscription** to open the billing portal.
3. Switch intervals, update the card, download invoices, or cancel.

### Team plans

The organisation owner uses **Open billing portal** in the organisation's **Team billing** section — seat changes, invoices, and cancellation all live there. See [Set up a Team plan](https://usecanto.com/help/billing/team-plan/).

## What happens after I cancel?

- Pro stays active until the paid period ends — the plan row switches from **Renews** to **Ends** with the final date.
- On that date you move to the free plan and its monthly allowances. See [What are the free plan limits?](https://usecanto.com/help/billing/free-limits/)
- Nothing is deleted. Recordings, transcripts, notes, and chats stay in your account; new metered work counts against free allowances, and going over behaves as described in [What happens when I hit a limit?](https://usecanto.com/help/billing/what-happens-at-limit/)

You can resubscribe at any time from the same place you upgraded before: [Upgrade to Canto Pro](https://usecanto.com/help/billing/upgrade-to-pro/).

## FAQ

### Canto still shows Pro after I cancelled

That's expected until the "Ends" date — cancelling stops renewal, not the time you've paid for.

### I cancelled but was charged again

Cancellation must happen in the store that bills you. Deleting the app, or even deleting your Canto account, does not cancel an App Store or Google Play subscription — check the store's subscription list and cancel there, then contact the store for refunds.
